The theme for WCA’s fall 2022 Dancing Word performance is “Silence Is Not An Option.” The topics to be explored include action, connection and disconnection of humanity, social justice, and compassion.

The Dancing Word merges dance and poetry to create beauty, meaning, and mystery. The dance interprets the poetry. The poetry gives the dance a narrative structure. The dance gives the poetry an added dimension in which to communicate its concreteness. The dance creates moving metaphors which provoke the imagination and create mystery and deeper meaning in the eye, ear, and mind of the audience.

The performance will include the poetry of Gwendolyn Brooks, W.H. Auden, Maya Angelou, and Amanda Gorman and local poets Glenn Stewart and Taylor Brown. The cast includes Taylor Brown, Nora Burkitt-Davis, Kosha Chandler, Tessa McNeil, Sonja Schultz, Glenn Stewart, and Lauren Thompson with guests Logan Nichols and  Stella Phillips.  Choreographers are Suzanne Ryanstrati and Nora Burkitt-Davis
