A popular chamber music trio performs music by Brahms and friends at November’s Brown Bag concert on Friday, Nov. 15. The Lyric Arts Trio, which includes soprano Sarah Tannehill Anderson, clarinetist Elena Lence Talley, and pianist Dan Velicer, will present a selection of chamber music of Brahms and his friends and colleagues.

The free (donations accepted) Brown Bag Concerts, sponsored by Westport Center for the Arts, connect musicians with local audiences in an intimate space. They are held monthly from 12:10 to 1 p.m. at the Westport Presbyterian Church, 201 Westport Road, Kansas City.

Johannes Brahms is one of the Big Three “B” composers of classical music, alongside Bach and Beethoven.

The ensemble will perform new custom arrangements of lovely lieder of Clara Schumann, Gustav Jenner (Brahms’ only pupil), and Antonin Dvorak, as well as a selection from one of Brahms’ clarinet sonatas and the beloved Intermezzo in A, op. 118, No. 2.  The concert will close with a trio arrangement of Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Voices of Spring” Waltz.
